See what you really make on a sale, your break-even price and which offers to accept.

Getting the tool ready...

Inputs are processed in your browser. This build does not send them to a server.

How it works

Enter what an item cost you, the postage and packaging, your marketplace and advertising fees, and the price. It shows your profit, margin and return on cost, the lowest price that still makes the profit you want, and which offers reach it.

What you need

  • What you paid, postage the carrier charges, packaging and any other costs
  • Marketplace and advertising fees: a percentage (of the item price, or of item plus postage) and a fixed amount
  • Item price, postage the buyer pays, the profit you want, and any offers to compare

What you get

  • Profit before tax, margin and return on cost
  • A line by line breakdown of every fee and cost
  • The lowest price for your target profit
  • Each offer, with what you would make and whether it meets your target

Example

The example (not any marketplace's real fees): item £40, buyer pays £3 postage, 12% fee on item and postage plus 30p, 2% advertising. Profit before tax: £17.68.

Good to know

No marketplace's fees are built in, because they change: enter your own rates from your marketplace's fee page, and save them as a preset.

Amounts are worked in whole pence. Each percentage is rounded to the nearest penny, half a penny up. Profit is before tax, VAT and any refunds or returns. The currency symbol is only a label: nothing is converted.
