Getting the tool ready...

Inputs are processed in your browser. This build does not send them to a server.

How it works

Understand what an appliance costs to run. Fill in the form and choose Calculate. It opens with an example already filled in, so you can see how it works first.

What you need

  • Appliance power (watts)
  • Hours per day
  • Number of days
  • Your unit rate (pence per kWh)

What you get

  • Energy used, Running cost
  • Copy or save the result

Example

The tool opens with Appliance power (watts): 150; Hours per day: 4; Number of days: 30; Your unit rate (pence per kWh): 25.

That gives: Energy used: 18 kWh; Running cost: £4.50.

Good to know

25p is a sample input, not a current tariff. Enter your own bill rate. Assumes constant power; excludes standing charges.
